How to Connect to DCRI Enclave - Quick Reference Card

ree

Situation: Our sponsors and clinicians needed secure, on-demand access to analytical data using the Enclave Remote Desktop. Previously, this training was only delivered via a scheduled VILT course, which was not always compatible with the demanding schedules of clinical professionals and research sponsors.

Task: As the Instructional Designer, I was tasked with converting this VILT training into a self-driven, just-in-time learning solution that allowed users to access and understand the Remote Desktop platform independently, at their convenience.

Action:

To meet this need, I designed and developed a Quick Reference Card (QRC) that walked users through accessing and navigating the Enclave Remote Desktop. I conducted a learning needs analysis with key stakeholders and SMEs to ensure every step reflected real-world workflows and security compliance.

  1. I created a custom QRC template in Canva, which has since been adopted as the standard format for our entire training team’s documentation.

  2. To add an engaging, personal layer to the training, I developed two Synthesia videos that featured both an American and a British avatar, offering diversity in representation and voice tone for our international user base.

Result: The new resources have significantly reduced the learning curve and increased accessibility. Sponsors and clinicians now have flexible, on-demand training that supports varying time zones and work environments. Feedback highlighted the value of having both a concise visual reference (QRC) and an interactive video experience, resulting in a decrease in support tickets and increased user confidence with the tool.
